Tefal ActiFry Extra FZ7220
We see the FZ7220 Extra as a sensible upgrade if you already know you like the ActiFry paddle system but need more capacity. The ceramic-coated pan held up better in our durability tests than the standard non-stick, showing fewer marks after repeated use with wooden utensils. The 1.2 kg capacity means you can cook a full batch of fries for a family of four. At 149 EUR, it is only 10 EUR more than the Original, which makes the Original hard to justify unless counter space is tight.
Tefal Easy Fry Compact EY1458
We see the EY1458 as the right Tefal for students, couples, or anyone in a small apartment. At 70 EUR, it is cheaper than most Philips and Cosori models of similar size. The 3.5 L basket handles a single portion of fries in about 15 minutes at 200C, or two modest portions if you do not mind slightly less crispy edges from a fuller basket. The 1300W element is the weakest in the range, so expect cooking times to run 1 to 2 minutes longer than the 1400W or 1500W models. For the price, that is an acceptable tradeoff.
